Francesco Petrarca was born in Italy July 20, 1304 and died July 19, 1374. Known in english as Petrarch. he was an a poet and one of the humanists. Pietro Bembo created the Italian language based on Petrarch's poems and works as well as other famous poets. His sonnets were immitated in Europe and for lyrical poetry, he also developed the theory of the Dark Ages.
